Network connectivity outage for short periods of up to 10 minutes.
What is happening?
Now that University Clearing has completed we need to schedule further network maintenance that may impact you.
The maintenance will take place on Thursday 19 August between 9am and 6.30pm.
Impact of the changes
There should be no noticeable impact to most University servers, desktop systems and services, however some buildings will lose network connectivity for short periods of up to 10 minutes.
The buildings that will definitely lose network connectivity at points during the day are:
• Marischal College
• Elphinstone Hall
• Elphinstone Road Flats
• Butchart
• Old Townhouse
• Nursery
• St Marys
• Library Special Collections
• 5 Dunbar Street
• 23 & 80 St. Machar Drive
• 48 & 53 College Bounds
• 90 & 110 High Street
Why is this happening?
This maintenance is to make critical changes in relation to the University core network. The changes are required migrate network connections from old unsupported network hardware to new fully supported hardware.
The reasons this is happening during a working day are:
1. We need support from the hardware provider.
2. We require our own experts online should there be an unplanned outage
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
