On 26 April 2021, Standard Life Aberdeen announced its intention to rebrand as ABRDN, which caused a flurry of press coverage questioning the effectiveness of the new name. I was interviewed by The Guardian's arts correspondent about "whether we should be worried about this?" The answer is "no", of course, and this is really not an important story, but it is good for Aberdeen Linguistics to be part of the national conversation about language-related topics, alongside some very well-known linguists, including David Crystal.
