Hans C. Hones has been awarded the Paul Mellon Centre's Research Collection Fellowship 2021/22, for a research project on art historiography in Britain ('"Fundaments of Knowledge". British Art History and the Pathos of Positivism, c. 1940-70').
This Fellowship, awarded by the renowned Paul Mellon Centre for the Study of British Art, is awarded to a research project on the Centre’s Archive and Library Collections and intended to explore an aspect of the development of art history as a discipline in the UK in the 20th century. Hans' project aims to reassess the institutional history of British art history, c. 1940-1970, and the discipline’s status between academic structures and informal networks.
