Dr Thomas L Muinzer from the School of Law has published a new book

We are happy to announce that a new book has been published by Dr Thomas L Muinzer of the University of Aberdeen, School of Law.

National Climate Change Acts: The Emergence, Form and Nature of National Framework Climate Legislation, published by Hart

This work provides the first available major study of national Climate Change Acts, a newly emerging, cutting-edge type of legislation intended to enable the law to grapple effectively with one of the great problems of our times, anthropogenic climate change.

The book offers the first comprehensive study of this new, innovative form of legislative regime, and is designed to speak in concert with itself, building to an overall statement on Climate Change Acts.

In addition to Dr Muinzer’s chapters, contributions come from a range of leading legal and political scholars, including:

Prof Richard Macrory CBE (barrister and pioneer of UK environmental legal studies); Åsa Romson, environmental studies expert and Sweden’s former Minister of Climate and the Environment (2014–2016); Andrew Jackson, instructing solicitor on Climate Case Ireland (2020), which resulted in the Irish Supreme Court quashing Ireland’s National Mitigation Plan; and others.

A Foreword is provided by Lord Carnwath, the eminent environmental judge who stepped down recently from the UK Supreme Court.
