The School of Law Welcomes New Honorary Lecturer

The University of Aberdeen is proud to welcome Rahul Donde as Honorary Lecturer. Rahul’s addition to the Law School is a strategic decision to strengthen our links with leading lights of the international arbitration and Rahul is the first member to join us under this new initiative.

We are delighted with Rahul’s addition to the academic community here in Aberdeen, a top 10 UK Law School ranked by all major UK table leagues and Top 100 in the World for Law (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021).

Rahul  has been described by the arbitration community as a “Rising Star” and “Future Leader” according to Who’s Who Legal, Legal500 and ExpertGuides. He is based in Geneva acting as as Counsel at Lévy Kaufmann-Kohler, specializing in international commercial and investment arbitration.

Aberdeen holds in very high esteem Rahul’s experience  at it spans all key elements to be a rising leading light in arbitration practice. He has acted as arbitrator, counsel and secretary of the arbitral tribunal in over 30 international arbitration proceedings under both ad hoc and institutional arbitration rules, and has expertise in high-value, complex commercial disputes in both common law and civil law systems.

He sits on  the advisory boards of arbitration think tanks and holds leadership positions in international arbitration organisations. Rahul is qualified to practice law in India. He is a native English speaker, and also speaks French, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati.

Rahul visited the School of Law for the first time in November 2019, when he held a research seminar on the topic Expedited Procedures in International Commercial arbitration and Investment Arbitration, and since then Rahul has continued to contribute to the University of Aberdeen’s activities in the field of dispute resolution. He is part of the teaching faculty in our LLM courses on Professional Arbitration Skills and International Commercial Arbitration.

Rahul is a wonderful addition to our teaching team, and he is a valuable member of external teaching staff who has also shown strong inclination to research throughout his career, evidenced by papers published in international journals.

We are hereby welcoming Rahul and we are looking forward to continuing our cooperation in teaching and research projects!
