As part of the celebrations commemorating its 525th Anniversary, the University of Aberdeen, School of Law is proud to partner with two leading Mexican institutions in the area of legal research and dispute resolution practice, namely the Instituto de Investigaciones Juridicas (IIJ) UNAM and the Centro de Arbitraje de Mexico (CAM).
The first initiative under the Aberdeen-IIJ-CAM is to offer a series of seminars in commercial arbitration aiming to inform students, academics, practitioners and policymakers about the legal principles, norms and practice of the commercial arbitration practice nationally and internationally. This series of events will be free of charge and will also be streamed live. This collaboration is co-chaired by Dr Ana Alba Betancourt (Researcher at IIJ, UNAM), Sylvia Samamo (General Secretary at CAM) and Dr Gloria M Alvarez (Lecturer in Dispute Resolution, School of Law, University of Aberdeen).
IIJ is a leading scientific legal institution in charge of conducting research for the resolution of social and political conflicts arising from legal developments at domestic and international level. The objective of the IIJ is to study, teach and disseminate comparative and interdisciplinary knowledge under an excellence academic framework.
The Arbitration Center of Mexico (CAM) is an institution specialising in the administration of private commercial arbitration proceedings. Founded in 1997, it aims to provide an alternative way of resolving commercial disputes through institutional arbitration.
