Dr Burcu Yüksel Ripley appointed to Expert Network of the NERC/UKRI 'Constructing a Digital Environment' Programme

Dr Burcu Yüksel Ripley from the School of Law has been appointed to the Digital Environment Expert Network (https://digitalenvironment.org/home/digital-environment-expert-network) as part of the four-year £10.4 million ‘Constructing a Digital Environment’ Programme (www.digitalenvironment.org), set up and led by NERC/UKRI (Natural Environment Research Council and UK Research and Innovation).  This Programme is an exciting challenge established to develop, for the first time, the thinking and practice around a ‘digitally enabled environment’, and will benefit policy makers, businesses, communities and individuals.

The Network consists of 24 experts who are leading influencer-practitioners, thought-leaders, and scientific and technical authorities. Together with the Digital Environment Champions, these experts will collaborate to shape the UK digital environment landscape by identifying best practices and helping to influence UK environmental policy thinking. Burcu joins the Expert Network for one year as a Constructing a Digital Environment (CDE) Fellow and has been awarded a £10.000 supporting grant.

Burcu is the author and editor of several publications in international law, particularly in international trade law, private international law and international commercial law.  She is also a regular speaker at international conferences, workshops and seminars.   She has been involved in international collaborative research projects and appointed by courts in the UK and Turkey to give expert opinion evidence. Her current research focuses on law and digital technologies, aiming to raise awareness of the legal implications of digital technologies and to offer appropriate legal solutions to facilitate developments in this important area.
