Workshop hosted on "The Politics and Pitfalls of Maritime Governance"

Workshop hosted on "The Politics and Pitfalls of Maritime Governance"

Professor David Anderson from the School of Social Sciences and Dr Tavis Potts from the School of Geosciences hosted a workshop from the 17-19th June titled “The Politics and Pitfalls of Maritime Governance”, a part of the ESRC-funded network The Political Ecology of Coastal Societies. The recently funded network links UK and Japanese scholars, expanding upon the existing expertise of the University of Aberdeen (School of Social Science; School of Geosciences) and Tohoku University, Japan in political ecology, coastal governance and impacts of environmental change.  The  network focuses upon four central themes: 1) Kelp harvesting and intertidal tenure; 2) flood and disaster management, mitigation and human impacts; 3) coastal conservation and community interactions and 4) community conflicts in changing systems.

More on the project can be found here.
