Talented Tobias hitting the high notes as a composer

Talented musician Tobias Wolf can really celebrate hitting the high notes when he graduates with a First Class Honours from the University of Aberdeen next week.

Originally from Germany where he studied in Cologne and Bonn, Tobi moved to Aberdeen to further his studies in music, specialising in conducting and composition.

Since then he has taken part in a top 3 UK chart album with the University’s Royal wedding composer Professor Paul Mealor, appeared on Classic FM, German TV and radio and performed around the globe.

The 27-year-old - who conducts ensembles at the University - was invited to conduct at a prestigious annual choral concert in Canada at Easter, working with Pro Coro Canada and honorary Aberdeen graduate Michael Zaugg. Receiving the Carlaw-Ogston Conducting Bursary helped him to go.

Tobi - who is also founder and director of The King’s Philharmonic Wind Orchestra - has been invited to be a guest conductor at special 70th anniversary choral concert in Germany over the summer.

The award-winning undergraduate now plans to stay at Aberdeen and study for a Masters of Music.

“Aberdeen is like a second home to me and depending on what happens with Brexit I hope to stay here,” he said.
