Peter Hirst joins Law School as Honorary Professor

The School of Law is delighted that Peter Hirst FCIArb, Partner at Clyde & Co LLP is joining teaching staff as an Honorary Professor on a number of programmes.

Peter will commence his lectureship duties in September 2019.

Peter is a Solicitor Advocate with over 30 years of experience, specialising in international arbitration.   He has arbitrated under the rules of all the major arbitral institutions,  he also sits as an arbitrator and is an accredited CEDR mediator as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Indian Counsel of Arbitration. 

Peter is an active member of the ICC  International Court of Arbitration, and an Ambassador for their Belt and Road Initiative. He is also an International Adviser of the China Academy of Arbitration Law and chairs Clyde & Co’s BRI committee.   

In addition to his many years of practical experience, he has lectured extensively on arbitration law and practice in Fundação Getulio Vargas São Paulo (FGV), Queen Mary University, the Centre for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada, Comitè Brasileiro de Arbitragem and at the inaugural CIETAC Forum of International Arbitration in Beijing.
