The Law School has a number of scholarships available for the 2019/20 academic year at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD level.

There are a number of Undergraduate scholarships available, two of which are specifically for Law, the Robert and Elizabeth Mitchell Scholarship and the Fullerton Scholarship.
Robert and Elizabeth Mitchell Law Scholarship (1 available)
The scholarship is valued at £2,000 per annum and will be awarded to a student commencing any Single Honours/Joint Honours or Major-Minor Law degree. Preference will be given to students who have one (or multiple) of the priority Widening Participation characteristics as defined by Scottish Government and the Scottish Funding Council, as well as academic merit, financial need, and personal characteristics. (See attached guidelines for full details). In respect of personal characteristics, applicants should be able to demonstrate, through the personal statement section of their application, that:
• They are enthusiastic, highly motivated and determined to succeed academically and professionally.
• They have a strong commitment to self-development and take a pro-active and committed approach to their education
• They possess good communication & interpersonal skills
Applicants domiciled in the UK and classified as paying RUK or Home fees, normally domiciled in the UK but temporarily living outside the UK and classified as paying RUK or Home Fees are eligible to apply.(See guidelines for full details).
The scholarship is valued at £2000 per annum for a student commencing a full-time degree in Law (LLB). Preference will be given to students who have one (or multiple) of the priority Widening Participation characteristics as defined by the Scottish Government and the Scottish Funding Council. (See attached guidelines for full details). To be eligible a student must have lived in Scotland for a minimum of 5 years immediately prior to their university studies and obtained their university entrance qualification through the Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework.
These undergraduate Scholarships, for those classified as Rest of UK (RUK) Fees, are available based on two criteria: "Access" and "Merit". Scholarships based on "Access" exist to support those who may otherwise struggle to meet the cost of studies while "Merit" scholarships are designed for those who have shown considerable academic potential in their A Level results. Students meeting the criteria of both scholarships are entitled to receive both payments, potentially £4,000 per annum. The scholarships are not available to graduate students undertaking further study.
These scholarships are available in addition to applicable Government loans and grants - see below. The University will use the residual household income figure calculated by the Student Loans Company (SLC) when assessing your bursary entitlement.

Postgraduate Scholarships:
Vikram Reddy Memorial Scholarship
The Vikram Reddy Memorial Scholarship offers £1,000 to support one postgraduate student from the United Kingdom through a one year on campus full time Master of Laws (taught or research) programme (LLM) at the University of Aberdeen, starting in September 2019. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

Law School Energy & Environmental Law Scholarship (1 available)
One scholarship is available to full time students from the UK, EU and Overseas commencing a one year full time on campus Master of Laws in Energy & Environmental Law with Professional Skills programme at the University of Aberdeen, in September 2019. This scholarship contributes £5,400 towards full time Home, RUK or International tuition fees for one year, and is awarded on the basis of merit. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

Law School LLM Merit Scholarship (2 available)
There are two scholarships available to support two postgraduate students from any country on a one year full time Master of Laws on campus programme at the University of Aberdeen, starting in September 2019. This will contribute tuition fees up to the value of £7,500.

David Carey Miller Scholarship (1 available)
There is one David Carey Miller Scholarship available. It covers overseas tuition fees to support one postgraduate student from Sub-Saharan Africa through a one-year full-time on-campus Taught Master of Laws degree programme (LLM) at the University of Aberdeen, starting in September 2019. The scholarship also offers travel costs - one return economy flight from the applicant's home location to Aberdeen arranged by the School of Law.

Law School Postgraduate Research Scholarships
Law School PhD Merit Scholarship
There is one Law School PhD Merit Scholarship for a student holding an offer of study for an on-campus PhD starting in September 2019.
