Sound Festival Director receives National Award

Fiona Robertson (Director of sound) awarded biennial RPS Leslie Boosey Award for promoting new music in the UK. Professor Pete Stollery was one of the sound founding directors.

The award recognises those who work in the background, promoting and organising new works and artistes.  “I am thrilled to be the recipient of the Leslie Boosey award, and proud to join a list of such illustrious previous recipients,” says Fiona Robertson. “It’s a great recognition for the work that many other people as well as myself have put in to developing sound and creating new music opportunities in Scotland, in particular in the North East.”

Sound is a new music incubator based in the North East of Scotland that aims to create and discover new music.  It is also a research playground for staff and student composers along with performers at the University.

One of the founding directors, Professor Pete Stollery, from the Department of Music at the University of Aberdeen has pioneered new music in both the urban and rural environments of the North East of Scotland.

The next Sound Festival will run from 23 October – 3 November 2019.
