Call for Papers - Special Issue to be published October 2018

Issue title: Perspectives on Spaces for Teaching and Learning

Submissions are invited for this Special Issue of Education in the North, on the theme of ‘Perspectives on Spaces for Teaching and Learning’

  • Research may have been conducted into the education of children and young people, post-compulsory education, vocational education, community and/or adult learning, and professional learning.
  • The teaching and/or learning may have taken place in formal, informal or non-formal settings.
  • They are interested in teaching and learning environments, perspectival spaces, everywhere that can be regarded as an educative space: inside or outside buildings; in our bodies and/or our minds; in relation to and with others; at one time, and over time.

Submissions are welcome, including, but not limited to, those that address or cut across the following topics:

  • Educational and societal impact of digital spaces
  • Embodied presence and connectivity
  • Natural learning environments

Creative and interdisciplinary methodologies and methods used to consider these issues in new ways will be of particular interest.

Submissions that address other areas relevant to the general theme are also welcomed, and the editors will be happy to respond to queries concerning the relevance and eligibility of potential submissions.

Different types of submission are possible: articles dealing with new empirical research findings that have not been published elsewhere, features which describe on-going research projects, and book reviews. Please refer to the journal website (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/eitn/information) for guidelines for authors.

They are especially interested in publishing work in indigenous and minority languages and the journal has a proud tradition of publishing work in Scottish Gaelic over the last 50+ years.

Submission Deadlines:

Expression of interest and extended abstract (1000 words) for articles and features emailed to eitn@abdn.ac.uk by Friday 23 March 2018.

Submission of article, feature or book review emailed to eitn@abdn.ac.uk by Friday 25 May 2018.

Publication date: Thursday 11 October 2018.
