Jonzon Duo performing at SCANDI Saturday 27 May 2017

Not to be missed mictrotonal Nordic ballads of brutality and social realism with a heap of poetic romance! Nathan Bissette, an English/American musician and composer, and Kristin Borgehed, Swedish dito, launched their album PurcellPartialsPietist in November 2016.

Swedish/Norwegian music duo, Jonzon (Kristin Borgehed and Nathan Bissette) will perform traditional Scandinavian songs and tunes to the award-winning poet and translator Ian Crockatt's launch of poetry translated from Old Norse on 27 May 2017, 16:00 - 17:00.  FREE event, booking essential.

The duo was founded a few years ago, in Aberdeen, Scotland. The work is based in traditional singing and playing from central parts of Sweden/northeast Scotland, and  consists mainly of improvisation and microtonality. String instruments and voices are the main instruments we work with.

This work has a practical side, as well as a theoretical, through Kristin’s PhD studies on microtonality in singing. The repertoire includes a variety of tings, from dance music to church music, from lullabies to wordless humming.

Tickets are no longer on sale online or by phone, but will be back on sale at the May Festival Box Office over the weekend.
