A series of event to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death

It's Shakespeare week in Aberdeen beginning Tues October 18th as we welcome writers, academics, theatre historians and directors to the university for a series of events examining Shakespeare and his cultural influence. Events include the Argentinian author, Carlos Gamerro, talking about his Shakespeare-related novel Cardenio, and there is also a special peformance event with live actors, based around the visit of an acting troupe to Aberdeen in 1601.

A special performance event organized by Andrew Gordon with the director Alasdair Hunter and produced by Lesley Anne Rose of Aberdeen Performing Arts.

Shakespeare Recreated: Carlos Gamerro’s Cardenio

A reading and discussion with the Argentinian writer of his novel that reimagines the lost Shakespeare play inspired by an incident in Cervantes’ Don Quixote

This event has been made organised in conjunction with the British Council
