Venue
The meeting will take place in the historic Linklater rooms in King's College at the University of Aberdeen.
Scope
One of the grand challenges in modern physics is developing theories of out-of equilibrium systems and applying them to a wide variety of systems, ranging from developmental biology to economics. Active Matter is a young and rapidly developing field with tight connections to and applications in biology. Research in active systems has a strong presence in the UK. With a few exceptions, nearly all examples of active systems are biological in nature, and this meeting intends to bring together theoreticians with experimental groups especially in cell and developmental biology who have not yet been in contact.
Format
The meeting will be held over 1.5 days, consisting of three sessions with two or three invited speakers in each session, followed by three or four shorter contributed presentations. As part of the EPSRC network activities, for each thematic subgroup, there will be group discussions and then a plenary discussion relating to the organization of the road map. There will also be a poster session.
