Title: From design patterns to the automated design of algorithms
Abstract:
Design Patterns have informed us when we need to provide solutions to Object Oriented design problems. This talk looks at how design patterns can assist us in building metaheuristic solutions and avoid reinventing the wheel. In particularly we will look at the Template Method and how it can help to Automatically Design Algorithms for specific problems. The results are impressive, outperforming the human designed algorithms and offer a number of benefits. We will look at a number of applications and attempt to understand why some of them are effective.
