Biography

I am currently Director of Undergraduate Pathways for Physics. I hold a BSc with 1st Class honours in Physics and undertook a PhD in Monte Carlo modelling of semiconductors with Dr Geoff Dunn, focussing on Gunn diodes and looking into the operation of GaN devices in the terahertz band. I am responsible for course co-ordination and teaching on a worrying number of courses, so I have lots of teaching experience. My teaching has been recognised with a fellowship in the Higher Education Academy, and in 2019 I won "Funniest Lecturer" in the University-wide Excellence in Teaching Awards, perhaps because "Most Handsome" wasn't a recognised category. I am also the author of multiple critically acclaimed and commercially catastrophic novels.
