Our research involves the synthesis and discovery of novel materials which exhibit fascinating properties. We are particularly interested in structure-property relationships which enable us to tune the properties of our materials.
We are engaged in a broad range of research projects. Examples include ionic conductors, superconductors, magnetic materials and biomaterials. Our research is underpinned by state-of-the-art crystallographic studies at large scale facilities such as the ISIS neutron and muon source (UK) and the Institut Laue Langevin (France).
The Group
The solid-state group currently consists of five academic staff (Professor Iain Gibson , Professor Abbie Mclaughlin , Professor Jan Skakle, Professor Bill Harrison and Dr. Eve Wildman ), one PDRA (Dr. Sacha Fop ) and eight PhD students.
