Documentary featuring Paul Murray shortlisted in the Creative Communication category
The Channel 4 documentary 'Chopin Saved My Life', featuring postgraduate music student Paul Murray and which won a second place in the Grierson Documentary Award in 2013, has been shortlisted by the prestigious 2014 Royal Philharmonic Society Awards. It has been placed in the Creative Communication category alongside:
John Eliot Gardiner: Music in the Castle of Heaven: A Portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach (Allen Lane)
Tom Service: A Guide to Contemporary Classical Music (The Guardian)
Touch Press: classical music iPad apps
The award is given "for a compelling and imaginative vehicle which furthers the understanding of classical music in any medium (written or spoken word, video, audio, digital, online) made publicly available in the UK for the first time during 2013".
This is the second year that the Department of Music has been represented at the awards with the sound festival shortlisted in the Concert Series and Festivals category in 2013.
The awards will be announced in London on 13th May 2014.
