The Department of Music is proud to announce yet another packed concert season at the University of Aberdeen
The Season was launched with an informal performance of Handel's Messiah by the incoming 1st Years led by conductor Alistair Macdonald. However again this season sees a focus on new music with many concerts held in conjunction with the sound festival including a remarkable performance of Steve Reich's 'Different Trains' performed by the Smith Quartet.
In partnership with JAM (the John Armitage Memorial Trust), our University ChamberChoir joins forces with the EdinburghUniversity Chamber Choir and the University of St Andrews Chapel Choir to perform a Scottish tour ofconcerts, culminating in a wonderful explosion of choral sound at St Machar'sCathedral in October!
Addto these performances from our own staff and students, visits from such old friendsas the Edinburgh Quartet, Jeremy Huw Williams and the University of Aberdeen Choral Societyand Symphony Orchestra working with Morten Lauridsen on his deeply moving Lux Aeterna, and you will see that this season has something for everyone.
