May sees the premieres of two new works by departmental senior lecturer, Dr Phillip Cooke.
Phillip's new work for the twentieth anniversary of the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music (of which he is a patron), 'Festival Te Deum', will be premiered at St Pancras Church, London on the 07 May. The 15-minute work is scored for solo soprano, choir and organ and will be performed in the opening gala concert. Later in the month (21 May) sees the delayed premiere of 'Thread About My Heart' a 25-minute piece for solo soprano, harp, string orchestra and choir in Phillip's home town of Keswick, Cumbria. The work combines settings of William and Dorothy Wordsworth and was commissioned for the 250th anniversary of William Wordsworth's birth in 2020.
