The Department of Music is very pleased to welcome three new members of staff who have recently begun at the university and represent a new and exciting development for the Department for 2020-21 onwards.
We welcome Professor Christopher Collins as Professor of Music and Head of the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture – Chris joins the Department after many years at Bangor University and brings multiple research specialisms including twentieth-century Spanish music. Dr John De Simone joins the Department as Senior Lecturer in Composition after a successful year as a Teaching Fellow in Composition in 2019-20. The final appointment is Dr Matthew Machin-Autenrieth who joins the Department as Lecturer in Ethnomusicology – Matthew is currently mid-way through a prestigious ERC grant entitled ‘Past and Present Musical Encounters across the Strait of Gibraltar’ and will gradually be more present at the Department over the next three years.
