A fantastic night of new compositions by the emerging composers of the University of Aberdeen shows breadth of talent and ideas.
The five young composers, Murdo Ross, James Aburn, Geordie Cryle, Abigail McLoughlin and Ross Cumming, all had their compositions performed to a very enthusiastic audience last night in King's College Chapel. The evening was introduced and compered by Head of Department, Dr Phillip Cooke. The winner, James Aburn, played his own composition entitled Three Pieces for Clarinet and piano. All five pieces had fresh ideas and showed just how strong composition is in the University of Aberdeen Music Department.
