Two new commissions for lecturer in composition, Dr Phillip Cooke
Lecturer in composition, Dr Phillip Cooke has recently been commissioned by the fantastic young choir Siglo de Oro for their Seven Last Words from the Cross project in which seven composers each take one of the famous lines for choir and saxophone – the premiere of which will be given in the Victoria International Arts Festival in July of this year in Malta. Phillip has also been commissioned to write a substantial new work for community choir for the SOUND festival in Aberdeen for this year’s festival – something themed around Northern Skies is planned. Phillip’s largest work to date, the oratorio Noah’s Fire will get its premiere in Chester Cathedral in November this year.
