The University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir had a fantastic time representing Scotland in the Proms Youth Choir this summer, singing Benjamin Britten's powerful War Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall on 21st August.
The Chamber Choir joined the National Youth Choirs of Ulster and Wales, the CBSO Youth Choir and the London Youth Choir to form a chorus of some three hundred young voices. Accompanied by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Andris Nelsons, the concert – a sell-out – was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. In the week leading up to it, the members of the Chamber Choir spent time in Birmingham working with Professor Simon Halsey. The concert marked the end of a fabulous summer of singing for the choir, including a tour of Belgium and the Netherlands, and singing for HM The Queen at Crathie Kirk, Balmoral.
