PhD student, Ross Whyte, has received a commission to create an outdoor sound installation to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Banchory on the 11th June. Ross has composed a short choral work for the Banchory Singers which, alongside interviews with local townspeople, will comprise a 5-channel installation designed in the formation of the Olympic rings. The work focuses on themes of human endeavour and achievement while also highlighting some of the controversy and negativity surrounding the London Olympics. The Torch is due to arrive in Banchory at 5pm on the 11th June. Further information can be found at:
