Music for Holy Week
The University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir presents a late-night, short, meditative concert to mark Holy Week on Maunday Thursday at Elphinstone Hall.
Surrounded by candlelight, the choir will perform music by Walton (Set me as a Seal), Tallis (Salvator mundi), Tchaikovsky (The Crown of Roses), Eriks Esenvalds (Stars), Phillip Cooke (Ave verum corpus) and Purcell's powerful and deeply moving, 'Funeral Sentences'.
They will also premiere two new works: 'Crux Fidelis' by Benjamin Cramer and 'O vos omnes' by Michael Merrill alongside Moses Hogan's dramatic 'The Battle of Jericho' and a new arrangement of the Irish folksong, 'Oft in the stilly night' by Paul Mealor.
