Joe Williamson is an English jazz guitarist based in Glasgow. His love of guitar began at an early age, growing up surrounded by musicians in the local folk music community, and then joining the young rock band scene.
His love of jazz came with his discovery of Miles Davis’ ‘Kind of Blue’, which inspired him to explore the genre. Before long, Joe became a dedicated student of the music, taking lessons with highly esteemed guitarist Mike Walker, and began playing with local big bands and jazz workshop groups.
At the age of 18, Joe was accepted on to the jazz degree programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, led by internationally acclaimed saxophonist Tommy Smith. He was awarded an undergraduate scholarship, and became a member of the prestigious Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra (TSYJO).
