Aberdeen University Composers' Forum

This is a past event

This week, we are hugely fortunate to have a group of visiting Argentinean Musicians coming to give a talk/masterclass whilst they are in Aberdeen performing at the sound festival. Eliseo Tapia is a master bandoneonista he will talk about the instrument's history in tango music as well as performing a few numbers.

The Composers’ Forum continues tomorrow, at 17.00 in MR 055.The Composers’ Forum is open to anyone who has an interest in composing, new music, the creative process or stimulating artistic debate. Each week either I, another member of staff, a guest speaker or PG students will present on their work, the work of others or current compositional ideas for debate. It is not an exclusive club, rather a gathering of like, enquiring minds. This week, we are hugely fortunate to have a group of visiting Argentinean Musicians coming to give a talk/masterclass whilst they are in Aberdeen performing at the sound festival. Eliseo Tapia is a master bandoneonista he will talk about the instrument’s history in tango music as well as performing a few numbers. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear this rarely-heard (well certainly in Aberdeen I’m guessing…) instrument played by the world’s finest. Who knows what compositional stimuli it could provide? All welcome - Monday 27 October at 17.00 in MR 055.
