Welcome to Nutrition and War

This learning resource is broken down into eight sections, each focussing on a different aspect of Nutrition and War.

It gives an insight into the importance of nutrition to the individual soldier, to civilians and to whole countries from the Napoleonic Wars right up to the Great War.

Each section is introduced with a short video clip, illustrating the material using poetry and music where appropriate.

There is a link ('Learn More') to then take you to the associated lecture which will give you more detail about many different aspects of nutrition in war.

We hope you find this resource useful and interesting. If you are interested in reading more about this subject, please see the Further Reading section at the end.

The University is also commemorating the Great War with a programme of events, exhibitions, digital archives and memorials that are free and open to all. The programme has been coordinated by the Public Engagement with Research Team.
