Diagnosis

  • A 65 year old man is referred to the dermatologist due to a rash on his back
  • The patient says there is several patches of this rash spread out on his back, and they started off as small skin-coloured bumps, 5 months ago
  • He has always had dry skin, but it has never been this itchy
  • Moisturisers have helped to reduce the itching but haven't completely treated the rash

On examination:

  • You can see several oval shaped inflamed patches which are flaky and have a rough/dry texture, as well as several brown seborrhoeic keratoses
