SEWS
-
A tool to aid in this early identification and monitor the effectiveness of early treatment is the Scottish Early Warning Score system = SEWS score.
-
The system works by monitoring a patients vital signs and giving them an overall score.
-
The score is key coded, found in top left corner of chart.
-
The SEWS score plays an important role in patient management.
-
Currently in AMAU when an emergency admission arrives the nurses perform the SEWS score of that patient and write it on the patient's
admission board thereby enabling the doctor to make an informed decision as to who to see first.
