Tissue
It is vital as part of the assessment in any patient with PPH to ensure that the placenta and membranes have been checked and confirmed complete if the placenta is already delivered
- Retained placental tissue may be a cause of PPH
- If the placenta is still in situ and there is PPH, manual removal of placenta (MROP) in theatre is needed ASAP
- If there is suspected retained tissue, EUA is indicated to not only assess the uterine cavity but a full assessment will be undertaken to check for tears and manage bleeding as indicated on the previous slide
