Referral Letter
The original referral letter from the GP to the gyanaecologist included the following information:
- Mrs Smith is a 58 year old lady who presented with a 2 month history of progressive left lower limb enlargement
- On examination I found Mrs Smith left lower limb to be 3" larger in diameter than the right
- Examination of the groins revealed Left inguinal lymph node enlargement
- The lymph nodes were firm but mobile
- PR examination showed no evidence of a rectal mass and I was uncertain as to whether I could feel a mass on vaginal examination
- Considering her age I am concerned about the possibility of ovarian carcinoma and appreciate you seeing her quickly for your opinion
