Myasthenia Gravis is an autoimmune disorder where (in the majority) antibodies are mediated against the acetylcholine receptors in the neuromuscular junction
Thus reduced action potentials generated in muscles are reduced causing weakness
Myasthenia can be either generalised as is with Laura or purely involving the eyes
It affects younger patients (age 20-30, females more common) as well as older patients (60-70, males more common)
It can be worsened by infection or certain drugs such as aminoglycosides, quinolones, quinine
