- Lupus like syndrome
- Proteinuria
- Immune complex nephritis
- Bone marrow suppression
Interactions
Iron and zinc supplements will not be absorbed if taken at the same time as penicillamine.
Avoid use with chloroquine and gold.
Higher risk of nephrotoxicity with NSAIDs and other nephrotoxic drugs.
Education
Patients should be informed about monitoring and side effects to look out for.
