Mechanism
These medicines work by inhibiting neuraminidase enzymes, which are glycoproteins found on the virion surface. These glycoproteins are required by the virus for entry into uninfected cells and to release viral particles from infected cells.

Education
Neuraminidase inhibitors are not a substitute for vaccination which remains the most effective way of preventing illness from influenza.
