Staphylococcus aureus
- The majority of infections we encounter in Scotland are due to Staphylococcus Aureus.
- However, depending on where you are and who you are looking after, other pathogens may be 'on your radar'.
- It is important to reassess patients regularly and if the first line treatment does not work, go back to the patient and think again what it might be.
- If your patient is in an at-risk group for a slightly uncommon microbe it is important to consult the local formulary.
