- Volkmann originally described this phenomena due to tight PoP casts, but was later connected
to elevated
compartment pressure levels
- Prolonged compartment syndrome of the forearm results in muscle ischaemia
- necrosis and shortening (contracture) of the muscle
- Tsuge classification
- Mild: affects the finger flexors
- Moderate: affects the wrist and finger flexors
- Severe: affects the extensors as well
