A word on prescribing oxygen
Oxygen is used very ubiquitously across all wards and you may see it being administered without a valid prescription.
Oxygen is a drug and as such there should be a valid prescription with a target range in place for every patient.
Some locations have a dedicated section for oxygen in the Kardex, others will have an online prescribing system in place.
Make sure you familiarise yourself with the prescribing procedure at your location.
In emergency situations oxygen can be given without a formal prescription but this should be recorded afterwards similar to other emergency treatment.
