Trochanteric Bursitis Shoulder Bursitis
  • Fairly Common
  • Rarer, tend to actually be tendinopathies
  • Pain at the Trochanters of the hip, spreading laterally
  • Again, more chronic than acute
  • More common in Women than Men
  • Detailed history and examination needed
  • Gradual Onset, Typically Chronic Bursitis rather than acute
  • Don't confuse with frozen shoulder or rotator cuff injuries

  • These are slightly less common but still important sites of bursitis in patients. Trochanteric bursitis is more common in women and shoulder bursitis is often confused with frozen shoulder or rotator cuff injuries.
