MI Epidemiology

There are over 10,000 hospital admissions for heart attacks in Scotland each year.

Myocardial infarctions are more common in the elderly, with 32.2% of the American male population aged 80+ having had a heart attack, compared to 6.3% of the American male population aged 40-59.

This is of relevance as we know the remote and rural areas in Scotland have a high elderly population, making them at increased risk of myocardial infarction. Therefore, it is important that we know how to deal with MI in a remote and rural setting.
