Outcome
Outcome:
- You refer the patient urgently to the dermatology clinic using an Urgent Suspected Cancer referral
- This is appropriate due to the fact this nail lesion has several unusual features raised by ABCDE examination
- The patient is seen within 4 weeks by a Consultant Dermatologist who is sufficiently concerned to perform an excision biopsy of the lesion at the clinic appointment
- The patient is reviewed after a further 4 weeks by the Consultant once the biopsy result is available
- The result reveals a benign melanocytic naevus
- The patient is reassured, counselled about checking their own skin in future and discharged back to your care
