- An electron micrograph showing the wall of a fenestrated capillary
- Such capillaries are usually found in endocrine glands
- Fenestrations (arrows)
- Note the short distance and the lack of much connective tissue separating the secretory cell (X), from which hormone would be secreted, from the fenestrated capillary
- This allows for easy and efficient diffusion of secreted hormone into the blood
