Extra-Renal Components:
The urinary system consists of the paired kidneys and ureters, and the single urinary bladder and urethra
The kidneys produce urine on a continuous basis although the concentration of the urine will vary according to the fluid status of the individual at the time
The ureters collect the urine produced by the kidneys and deliver it to the urinary bladder where it is stored
The urethra delivers the urine from the urinary bladder to the outside world during the process of micturition
