Gingivae
Retract the lips and buccal mucosa with your finger, spatula or mouth mirror.
INSPECT:
- Gingival margins both buccally, palatally / lingually
- Labial frenum
- Retromolar pad area behind the last standing lower molar tooth
PALPATE:
- Gingivae around any painful teeth for abscesses
NOTE:
- Site, size, shape, colour, contour, characteristics of any lesions or swellings
- Mucosal or gingival bleeding, ulcers
