Dermatofibromas are benign firm fibrous papules/ nodules usually found on the skin of the lower legs. It is characteristically tethered to the skin surface and mobile over subcutaneous tissue. Notably, the overlying skin dimples on pinching the lesion (dimple sign). Its colour varies from pink to light brown in lighter skin, to dark brown to black in darker skin.
Pyogenic granuloma is a misnomer describing a benign proliferation of capillary blood vessels of the skin and oral cavity. It characteristically presents as a small painless red fleshy nodule that grows rapidly over a few weeks. Pyogenic granuloma is known to bleed easily with minor trauma.
