Case 2: Presentation

Mr Jamieson

Observations:

Respiratory Rate: 24 breaths/min 24 breaths/min, rising respiratory rate, coupled with shallow breathing

SpO2: 96% on air

Heart Rate: 119 bpm 119 bpm, body is trying to compensate for the drop in BP

Blood Pressure: 87/56 87/56, dropped in circulatory volume

Temperature: 36.2

GCS: 13/15 (E3V4M6) 13/15 (E3V4M6), decreased perfusion to the brain

If the patient presented differently..

  • Mr. Jamieson reported that the bleeding started 3 hours ago and he was not able to control the bleeding
  • Furthermore, he mentions that he has gone through around 4-5 fresh towels that he brought along
  • On examination, blood can be seen actively dripping from his right nostril and you are unable to clearly identify a bleeding point
