CT Scan

- CT scanning, specifically high resolution CT (HRCT), is a very useful investigation in defining parenchymal (lung tissue) & nodal involvement in sarcoidosis
- Findings that may be seen better on CT rather than CXR alone can include nodular thickening, ground glass opacities, fibrotic lung changes, honeycombing (suggests severe fibrosis) or cysts
- HRCT also demonstrates features of lymphadenopathy, with mediastinal and hilar involvement better shown than using CXR alone
